Toy & Miniature Schnauzers
What constitutes a Miniature vs. a Toy Schnauzer?
Toy size schauzers are generally not over 10 lbs. Toy size is not a recogized "breed" by AKC or CKC. They are Miniature, Standard or Giant Schnauzers. A toy schnauzer is registered as a Miniature, but is called a toy based on weight under 10 lbs.
Miniature schnauzers are generally 10-20 lbs.
Benefits:
Benefits of adopting a Schnauzer: Schnauzers are non-shedding pets, their wiry hair make it easy to groom and you have less tangles. Schnauzers are extremely friendly, loving and even tempered pets. My experience has been that they are great with children or people that they are not familiar with.
Disadvantage:
The only disadvantage I have found is that once you adopt a Schnauzer, you're hooked. One is never enough!
Puppy Weight Guideline
Puppy Weight Predictors:
There is no way to predict the weight 100%. But this is a "good predictor" that I found.
At 6 weeks of age:
From 2-3 lbs. --Toy Range -- (Under 10 lbs.)
From 3-31/2 -- Miniature --(Between 10-12 lbs.)
From 3 1/2 lbs. -- Larger Miniature --(Between 12-18 lbs.)
